Fortunoff
Fortunoff, the Long Island-based
retailer, has opened a new store on Maple Avenue in White Plains. The
Long Island-based retailer purchased and demolished the former Saks Fifth
Avenue store to build a 270,000-square-foot retail complex. The $92
million project opened in September 2003. The new four-story building includes approximately 70,000 square feet of retail space as well as a new parking
facility.

City Center
City Center
at White Plains will add a mix of retail, entertainment and luxury rental
housing to downtown White Plains by fall. The $300 million project will
include 625 rental housing apartments in two 35-story high-rise buildings
on Main St., Martine Ave., and Conroy Drive. The site will offer
approximately 470,000 square feet of retail/entertainment
space. Tenants will include Target, a 15-screen movie theater, Circuit City, Barnes & Noble, GreenPoint Bank, Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Zanzaros Italian Restaurant and a 400-seat Community Performing Arts Center.

Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley has purchased the 725,000-square-foot Chevron/Texaco headquarters at 2000 Westchester Avenue in Harrison. The building will undergo major renovations for use as a data center and back-up trading facility. As many as 2,000 employees should eventually be working in the building. The move-in should begin in late 2003.

Fuji Photo Film U.S.A.
Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. relocated its U.S. headquarters to 164,000 square feet of space at 200 Summit Lake Drive in Valhalla. The move allowed the company - a major employer in Westchester - to increase its workforce from 425 to almost 700 over the next five years. By spring, Fuji Photo Film plans to occupy the entire third and fourth floors and a portion of the second floor.

Bank Street Commons
Bank Street Commons is coming to the infamous Hole in the Ground site in downtown White Plains. The $137 million project involves the construction of two, high-rise residential towers featuring a total of 500 rental apartments. The venture is being developed by LCOR Inc., on the 2.6-acre site near the White Plains Metro North train station. The project will also include a 500-car parking facility and a 100,000-square-foot hotel. The first phase of apartments is expected to be available for occupancy in the spring of 2003.
