PRAISE
FOR WESTCHESTER'S ECONOMY
JP Morgan Chase's
Financial Digest May newsletter praised the Westchester economy
for its many strengths. According to Marc Goloven, analyst for
JP Morgan Chase, "The sturdy stand of the Westchester economy
over the past two years provides a pleasant contrast with the
calamity of the early 1990's. In its first major recessionary
test, Westchester's reconfigured services economy gets a solid
passing grade." Goloven praised Westchester County's new
strategy of helping small- and mid-sized businesses at a time
when corporations downsized and manufacturing moved away, and
noted that the diverse nature of Westchester's workforce protects
against recessionary pressures. To read the full report, click

ENDURANCE
RE-INSURANCE EXPANDS FROM BERMUDA
It is not often
that a business moves from the pink sands of Bermuda to the
sands of the Westchester shoreline, but Endurance Re-insurance
is doing just that with the assistance of the Westchester County
Industrial Development Agency. Endurance is leasing 21,000 square
feet of space at 333 Westchester Avenue in White Plains and
growing its employment from 10 to 80. Endurance will be spending
up to $1.5 million in renovations and computer equipment.
