- The New York State Online Permit Assistance and Licensing (OPAL) is a service provided by the New York State Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform offering information on how to start a new business or to expand a current businesses. In addition, for businesses requiring renewable annual or semi-annual permits, the OPAL site contains these forms in electronic formats.
- In addition to the New York State Online Permitting and Licensing program, some companies are regulated by the County of Westchester Department of Health. They can access relevant forms at The Westchester County Department of Health page of forms. Home Improvement Contractors can access necessary forms at The Westchester County Office of Consumer Protection.
- The The Accelerator Program of the Westchester County Association helps organizations access resources, capital and intelligence to facilitate business growth. It is a free service available to any organization needing assistance to grow in the County of Westchester.
- The Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAC)
operated by the Rockland Economic Development Corporation provides assistance and programs on applying and obtaining for
government contracts. PTAC's programs and services are made possible through a cooperative funding agreement between the U.S. Department of Defense and the REDC, in cooperation with Rockland County, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and the County of Westchester Industrial Development Agency
- The Small Business Institute at the Westchester
Community College (WCC) offers a wide variety of courses and programs
for adults in classrooms throughout the County. The Professional Development
Center at WCC offers targeted quality programs with teachers and workshop
leaders who are experienced professionals, specializing in on-the-job training
through workshops, seminars and degree programs.
- Entrepreneur WISE, in affiliation with WCC, offers the basic entrepreneur
skills for women who are divorced, separated, widowed or whose spouses are
unemployed or disabled. Training focuses on starting a business, advertising,
financing, business planning, marketing promotion and computer skills.
- The Westchester
Association of Women Business Owners (WAWBO) provides women business owners
a forum to exchange leads, advice and skills/expertise in building and maintaining
a successful business. WAWBO provides sponsorship programs by linking new
members with experienced members for individual guidance; monthly peer group
meetings, maximum size of 15, to discuss issues in more depth; and maintains
a list of members for speaking engagements.
- The Export Assistance Center (EAC),
of the U.S. Commerce Department, operates a regional assistance center in
Westchester County. This center works with established small and medium sized
businesses to reach their full export market potential. Services include assistance
with beginning to export, channels of distribution, information on export
markets and specific market data. The EAC can also identify a number of private
and public sector financing resources for exporting businesses.
- The Women's Enterprise Development Center Inc. is a microenterprise development program designed to expand business ownership opportunities and to enhance employability and upward job mobility for socially and economically disadvantaged women. WEDC is designated by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a womens business center, is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and has been granted Section 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt status as a publicly-supported charity.
- The African
American Chamber of Commerce (AACCWR) is a voluntary organization of individuals
and businesses working together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial
and civic interest of the local community. The AACCWR has promoted the economic
growth of black businesses, impacting MWBE development and increasing the
number of firms obtaining access to the corporate community. Members have
access to professional networking opportunities and educational guest speakers.
- The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (WHHCC)
is committed to the economic growth and development of Hispanic businesses
and professionals in Westchester County. The WHCC sponsors numerous forums
for education and networking as well as a Career Development Job Fair.
